THE BENEFITS OF JUVEDERM
Juvederm is a FDA-approved facial filler made by Allergan, the makers of Botox. It is used to fill in wrinkles and facial folds. It is made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and is the only HA filler that has been FDA approved to last up to one year. Juvederm’s ability to provide a long-term solution to facial wrinkles and lines is what makes it so appealing and one of the most popular dermal fillers on the market.
Dr. Hoefflin typically performs Los Angeles and Beverly Hills Juvederm treatments to treat the nasolabial folds (the lines between the mouth and nose), the marionette lines (the areas along the lower outside corner of the mouth), the forehead frown lines, and to augment the lips. The injection and consultation process takes just 20 minutes, and results are immediate.
THE BENEFITS OF JUVEDERM XC
Allergan’s Juvederm XC® is the newest FDA-approved dermal filler. It offers the same results as Juvederm, but contains Lidocaine, a topical anesthetic included to increase patient comfort.
JUVEDERM ULTRA VERSUS ULTRA PLUS
Juvederm® comes in two different formulations: Ultra and Ultra Plus. These formulas allow Juvederm treatment to be customized to meet individual needs.
Juvederm Ultra® is a flexible product that can is best suited to augment the lips and to fill and correct fine facial folds and wrinkles.
Juvederm Ultra Plus® is a more robust product. Results are more dramatic, and it lasts longer than Juvederm Ultra. It is better suited to treat very deep facial folds and wrinkles and less suited to add volume to lips.
TYPICAL RECOVERY TIME AFTER JUVEDERM
Our Los Angeles and Beverly Hills Juvederm treatments are performed in our offices. All patients receive complimentary anesthetic numbing cream and post-injection ice compresses. Typical treatments take 15-30 minutes. Patients are also taught how to massage the treatment area immediately after the injections to help reduce any swelling and maintain tissue softness. There is no downtime or recovery period, and results are visible immediately.
HOW LONG WILL MY JUVEDERM LAST?
Juvederm treatments can last up to one year, however, each patient responds differently to the injections. The key to long-term happiness is getting enough volume replacement with the initial treatment.
Our professional office charges $550 per syringe for Juvederm Ultra® and $595 for Juvederm Ultra Plus.®

SIDE EFFECTS AND RISKS OF JUVEDERM
Typically patients notice very few side effects. However, some patients experience minor redness, swelling, or bruising. These side effects typically subsides in a few days. Occasionally, other mild side effects may occur including tenderness, pain, firmness, itching, and discoloration.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MINIMIZE THE RISK OF BRUISING?
Aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, Advil, and virtually all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents thin the blood and can promote bruising. In addition, many herbal remedies, red wine, and homeopathic medications can do the same. To minimize bruising, we advise patients to avoid these products for 10 days prior to treatment. We also offer both topical and oral Arnica, a homeopathic medication, which helps to reduce residual bruising. Contact our offices if you are concerned that medications you currently take make cause bruising.
