Dr. Hoefflin performs Juvederm® treatments to primarily treat the nasolabial folds (lines between the mouth and nose), lip augmentation, marionette lines (areas along the lower outside corner of the mouth), and glabellar lines. The injection and consultation process takes about 20 minutes, and mediate enhancement can be appreciated.

What is the difference between Juvederm Ultra® and Ultra Plus®?

Allergan’s Juvederm® comes in two different formulations, Ultra and Ultra Plus, so that treatment can be individualized to meet your cosmetic needs.

Juvederm Ultra® is designed to give you the flexibility to correct both your facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds, and for lip augmentation. Juvederm Ultra Plus® is a more cross-linked and robust product, and therefore is better used for “volumizing” of treatment deep facial wrinkles and folds. In addition, it lasts longer compare to Juvederm Ultra®.

There is minimal downtime and recovery, and results can be immediately appreciated.

What are the side effects and risks of Juvederm®?

Typical reactions after your Juvederm® treatment are mild or moderate in nature. The most common side effects are temporary injection site reactions, including mild redness or swelling, which usually subsides after a few days. Our office also offers both topical and oral Arnica, a homeopathic medication which reduces any residual bruising. Other mild side effects may include pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, itching, and discoloration.

Why is important to chose a board-certified plastic surgeon?

Your selection of a surgeon is as important as your decision to undergo cosmetic surgery itself. Many patients do not know that in most states, a licensed physician may perform plastic surgery without being board-certified in plastic surgery. This means someone not trained in Plastic Surgery could be performing your surgery.

The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Selecting a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery provides that your physician has completed the necessary and extensive training to perform plastic surgery and help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

What can I do to minimize the risk of bruising?

Aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, Advil, and virtually all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents thin the blood and can promote bruising. In addition, anything herbal, red wine, and homeopathic medications can do the same. To minimize bruising, it’s advisable to avoid these products for 10 days before a treatment. To find out more about which medications you are presently taking and their potential for bruising, please contact our offices.

Our medical offices offers our patients both topical and oral Arnica, a homeopathic medication which may reduce any residual bruising.
